Deadly Lies

by ashley   Apr 8, 2006

Once again hes late
starts giving the same excuses
but when she looks at him
with cold hate in her eyes
it makes him worried
stops his lies

he says baby im sorry
she smiles and replies, no but you will be
she's tired of the lies

thats when he realizes
she is holding his gun
how could this happen!?!
he was just havin fun!

then he relaxes, his deadly mistake
makes the poor assumption
that she doesnt have what it takes

he says she's acting foolishly
that it's her fault for not being what he needs
lets her know he still loves her
that the others dont really matter

Oh but she thinks they do
smiling now he thinks he has her
sees the hate draining from her eyes
he makes the mistake of calling her bluff
too bad for him she's had enough

three deadly shots sound
none miss their mark
she cleans up the mess, hides the evidence
as the neighbor's dog starts to bark

she is scratched but doesnt care
when the cops come
they see a beautiful young woman
in total shock and despair

as she cries in happiness
they mistake it for grief
she tells them the lines
she has been rehearsing for weeks

looking as hopeless as she can
she plays the role of a shattered wife
she killed her husband
to save her life
thought he was a stranger
didnt know it was him
in her bright blue eyes
tears begin
she is repressing joy,
trying to sound sad and they cant even tell
those weeks of practicing have paid off
she plays the part well

she tells them, it was dark and she had turned off the lights
when someone rushed towards her swinging a knife
she thought he was a intruder
she ran & grabbed her husbands gun
she shot to save her life

she feels horrible now even though it was self defense,
she wishes her life hadnt been saved at her dear late husbands expense

Oh how she loved him!
she goes on and on
if only she had done something differently
her husband wouldnt now be gone!

the cops write notes and nod sympatheticaly
reminding her she is lucky to be alive
she did only what had been neccessary in order to survive

as the cops finish up
they tell her though they cant say for sure
they think she is safely out of legal danger
then they drive away

the young woman watches the cars recede into the night
she smiles to herself & laughs happily
as her husband should have known
she always gets her way
