A New Beginning

by Tyler   Apr 16, 2006

Quiet and watching -
wondering as you approach
Will today be forgiveness?
Will there be words between us?
You hesitate -
head bowed,
shoulders weighing heavy,
hurt still in your eyes.

I pause -
find my breath catch in my throat,
my heart, an almost
unbearable weight in my chest

I whisper, "I'm sorry"
as I take your hand in mine,
our tears fall as you find my eyes,
and I know that today is a new beginning.
