Still trying to get over you

The pain I felt never left
As I hid my feelings for you
As I saw you together constantly
As I felt my heart tearing in two

We were still friends it seemed
Though not as close as before
You had many a fight about me
Something I had foresaw

Only a year it had been
But like a lifetime to me
And recently there was fighting
Things not running smoothly

Yet I played my role of indifference
As I watched you two pass me by
I played my part as the loving friend
And only in private Id cry

But even this closeness was too much
For me to keep playing my part
And I was found out as a charlatan
Who still loved you with all of her heart

So she clung on tighter still
As I wiped away my tears
But her kindness to you stoped
And in your eyes I saw fear

All I could do was hold my tongue
as I saw her turn you upside-down
Hiding pain behind a mask
Holding back tears lest I drown

As you had once done to me
she left you alone and disarmed
you came to me in your sorrow
you held me in your arms

good friends we were once again
and at last I dared to dream
but a new girl is now inside your heart...

as mine begins to scream
