Wolfman

by A_little_lower_than_the_angels   Apr 20, 2006

The forests of old still chant their wild song,
Whispering of epic battles, tempests and droughts.
And within it\'s heart a deep, intense, secret lies,
Too dark for knights to live out.

Yet when the treacherous moon dares show her full face
My dark mystery comes to light.
My heart floats free as the airborne, invincible, dragon
And my body becomes one with the creature man fights.

Within the eyes are countless tales, of heartbreak and reckless joy
Sorrow, pain and undying fear trapped in gleaming stone.
And the howl mournful and unfathomable as the death rites of old,
Pierces you through to the shivering bone.

The writhing pain, the torturing cramps,
All for the moment of perfect tranquility.
Wolf becomes man, man becomes gleaming wolf,
And my relieved mind courses with shining serenity.

Yet man has decided my love is their hate,
And their prejudiced minds fill with unquenchable fear.
Grab your torches and fire, to bring light to the dark,
And sound your relentless horns for all to hear.

Still you hunt me, still you try
to end my sweet sensational sin.
Clutch your wolfs bane close to your cold cold heart,
To keep beautiful redemption creeping in.

You and your kind refused my gift and so will never know,
The bliss my kiss could have made.
And what it is like engulfed in the dark, revealing night,
Alone, undaunted, unafraid.

So shoot me with a silver bullet,
Destroy my life, my love, my laughter.
My soul shall run free, careless as the wild wild wind,
Now, and forever after.
