Love Thy Self

by elise   Apr 24, 2006

Like a tree bows to no one,
standing rigid and tall,
I will not be slapped,
and by myself will fall.

Like a cat licks its wound,
and time will not stand still,
I will learn to live alone,
I swear to the stars I will.

Like a waterfall will dive,
and all the fish then bow,
Pain will not elude me here,
it will run from me now.

Like a garden that will grow,
when a rabbit eats its sprouts,
Like a child who loses wins,
and goes into the corner and pouts.

I will not stand for it,
there will be no regret,
I will not gamble my life away,
and leave them all to bet.

So listen to me now reader,
there is no way to tell,
That I will live in misery or love,
or drink from a wishing well.
