Autumn Leaf

by Brianna   May 7, 2006

I walk along the forest path and look up at the trees
So gently swaying in this autumn breeze.
The green has gone and the leaves live in yellows, oranges and reds.
The leaves are falling so very gracefully. I try to step around them. Remembering them.
In spring, how excited I was that you returned. Smelling so pretty.
In summer, you shaded me from the sun. Kept me cool. Thank you.
In the fall you brightened my day, filling it with radiance. But in winter, you left me. To look up at a dark cold sky. The barren trees.
And now as you float from the branches, it is as if the tree is crying for me.
Nobody remembers these autumn leaves, nobody appreciates them quite like I do.
