Candle

by Jorge   May 15, 2006

My life is like a candle lonely lit in the never forgiving night.
It serves only one purpose it only has one meaning.
That is to light your world so darkened and shrouded
By clouds of fear and doubt of that nothing will ever be alright.

It has burned for 6 years and has lost most of its energy
But it still stands so anxiously awaiting
For the morning rays of the sun of happiness
The one who apparently has burned out into nothingness

There were times were you would need its light for guide ness
There were times were you sought its warmth for calmness
It never failed you to lend these things
For it does not know a reason to not do such things

Yet, the candle is failing the test of time
For you have ignored its needs and have not replenished the oil
So there its stand alone in the night
Asking itself why doesn't the sun rise

But something strange is going on with the candle
The candle shines and burns strong
Like it does not care that something is wrong
But the situation is far more gruesome that it can handle

So let the candle that is my life burn brighter than the sun
For we all know a candle burns it brightest when it just about to burn out
It is the only way the poor candle can find inner peace
So when the flame dies out let the smoke that the blackened match emits fade
Like the memory that was me.
