My Hero, Friend, and Now My Love

For the first time ever
I can honestly say
I'll do whatever it takes
To make this guy stay.

I don't think he realizes
How much he's helped me
Bring out the best in myself
For everyone to see.

He put this smile upon my face
And this love in my heart
There's not a person alive
That can tear us apart.

I'm trying my best
To attempt to expose
All the secrets I've hid
That no one else knows.

I've been with many others
But no one like him
He's honest and respectful
He overlooks my sins.

He loves to serve the Lord
And doesn't care who knows
He doesn't care who watches
Not afraid to let it show.

I don't think he realizes
That, that means the most me
Because some day I would like
To become a missionary.

There's never been a guy
That's meant this much to me
It's a prayer answered
I'm as happy as can be.

I know that he likes me
For all the right reasons
I pray to God above
We'll make it through years of seasons.

He's showed me to live life
While I have it here
To believe all that I can
And to keep God, near.

When I get sick and I hurt
He told me I'm not alone
Only when God's ready
Will I die and go home.

For so long I've given up
Began not to even care
Didn't care what happened to me
But now I wouldn't dare.

I know now that God loves me
Just as much as he loves you
He wouldn't put me through anything
That I couldn't pull through.

I thank God for this guy
He's become me hero and friend
I never want to leave him
Nor this love we share to end.
