The Rain

by Amber   Jun 1, 2006

I’m here
Here for you
In this pouring rain
Hoping and wishing
You still love me the same

My lips are trembling
From the freezing cold
And the words unspoken
Still remain untold

I utter three words
And shake while I wait
Waiting to know
If I’m not too late

You let out a sigh
Bringing tears to my eyes
So I turned from you
For the very last time

I began walking alone
Without anymore words
I never realized ‘til now
You were always my world

Biding my time
Rain drenched my skin
Soothing my woe
That ached deep within

My stomach in knots
I didn't know what to do
Just knew that I couldn't
Wouldn't live without you

Terrible thoughts came
And coursed through my head
Then my heart sank lower
As I wished I was dead

I was minutes from home
When you must have caught up
Your hand pulled me back
Which forced me stop.

Your eyes burned into mine
Full of passion and love
As mine swelled with tears
Staring into yours up above

Both of us were soaked
Wet from head to toe
But the rain had washed away
Our tears, sweat, and sorrow

Taking my face in your hands
You pressed your lips against mine
I had prayed for your answer
And it had come just in time
