True Colors

by Avrii Monrielle   Jun 4, 2006

I see you hiding behind
Self-cut bangs that hide your face
I can't look into your eyes
You feel so out of place

Maybe if I was the one to believe
I would be able to not care and leave

But I can see what's behind your bangs
They're your soul, crying out in pain
Maybe if I was the one not screaming
I'd be able to sleep in my insanity

But I know you have a heart that's there
Beating at a hundred on the road
Listening, not saying what is told

I can imagine you smiling
And the truth unfolds

I can feel your true colors
Shining against the dim wall
Scared but brave, standing tall
I can feel you trying to keep up

Your true colors are of love
You love the world but it doesn't love us
Keep at it, don't cry if they tease
They can call you a jerk or sleaze

You don't have to take it
I can see your true colors waiting for your day
Holding on for dear life
I see hope written on your face

I can imagine your true colors
On the day of no regret
Smiling and peaceful
When all eyes have met

Your true colors are waiting to be free
So if there's a problem, tell me
I want to help your true colors shine through
And each step I'll walk with you

Wow. This is such a great poem, I am stunned. I cannot believe youre 13?! Amazing, but myself as a young person, understand the fact that you can be good even though youre young.
