A Lover's Prayer

As I lay me down to sleep
My heart in lovers arms do keep.
Holding close throughout the night
Cherished close till morning light.

Longing for that warm embrace
Tear-streaked pillows show the trace.
Missing hugs and kisses more
Counting time as I endure.

Till in my arms they are again
Then my longing is sure to end.
