The Rose

by Melodia   Jun 23, 2006

The Rose
You rise up from the ground
With your graceful slender neck
You proudly tower over other flowers
In regal elegance

When not handled with gentleness
You fight back with your thorns.
Your magnificence is exquisite with elegance
But you appear dangerous
With a stem full of thorns

At dawn your beauty is breath taking
Just as you see the sunrise
When the dew drops roll off your petals
And birds play love songs.

You are at your best when you have matured.
The soft silkiness of your petals
Entices one to sink
Into a bed full of velvet rose petals
To ones senses, your fragrant is intoxicating

You emerge from the ground
In a variety of hues
That shames a color pallet
But most of all
Your red shows passion and love
And whispers I love you
