You told me not to cry

by Sorefromreality   Jun 23, 2006

You told me not to cry
that it wasn't my fault
you told me all these lies
as if it's what you've been taught

you held me close as the tears stung my eyes
you told me not to cry
you stared at my sadness engulping my face
and hope disappeared without a trace

you looked into my eyes
you watched as i fell apart
you told me not to cry
as you slowly broke my heart

you got up and looked down at me
your grin turned to frown
you told me not to cry
as my world turned upside down

you looked on as i curled up
and started to comprehend
you told me not to cry
as i realized it was the end

you gradually ripped me in half
and began to walk away
you told me not to cry
as misery wrapped up my day

you told me not to cry
but in the end my tears fell like rain
sobbing was the only way
to release all of the pain

that night you slashed my heart
and told me not to cry
that promise i could not make
with that condition i could not comply

I like the way you have used that one line in every verse, but in different places. Another brilliant poem- well done.

thanks for the comment- can you just PM me and tell me which word is spelt wrong because my spelling is awful!

    keep writing!
