The Palm of Maravu

by tom furey   Jun 24, 2006

The suns\' vermilion sphere sinks low,
Its\' billion years of caring for our world
Reflected in its\' golden light,
And the dancing shadows on the sand.

We drift along the beaches\' mirrored fringe,
Sparkling diamonds underfoot, water calm,
Our arms entwined, our voices hushed,
Giggling lovers, searching for our secret palm.

The tell-tale flower of its\' open fronds,
Invites us, waiting for our longed for tryst,
The cool, soft velvet of the sand,
Begs us, aching for our love, our hunger, lust.

Our bodies join, and settle in the rhythm of the sea,
It comforts, as sighs float lightly in the breeze.
Our loving matched, as suns\' gently fading light
Makes the ocean pink, a blush at what it sees.

The suns\' light fades, black mystery in the sea,
But its\' soothing slapping at the shore continues,
As does our loving, fire slowly building,
Fanned by the breeze, a loving, caring muse.

The fire flares with our fierce release,
Our souls soar, stars guide their way.
And as the flickering embers slowly cool,
We wait, hold tight, through their teasing play.

The swaying fronds above us rustle, murmur,
\"Danger\", as they part, a shadowed figure, near.
A yell, piercing through the quiet night.
Discovery, reality, our secret lost...now fear.

A distant voice of fading laughter,
Away we run, our guilty clothes left far behind.
Our racing hearts so light, so free,
Giggling, footsteps leaving memories in the sand.
