Seperate Lives-Hearts as One

by tom furey   Jun 24, 2006

Your whispered words
From countless, aching miles away,
So move me, thrill me,
In forbidden ways i dare not say.

In ways i cannot say,
Because they worry me, they sadden me,
The hint of hope
I know they hold, i know can never be.

They cannot be,
As our two hearts, now joined as one,
Lead separate lives
A world apart. No chance, no....none.

No chance of union,
Because our hearts, pulled and torn
Are shared by others.
"Must we wait till new lifes' dawn?"

I sob my plea
To our private world, of aching want
And silent grief.
Lifes' cruel fate, how harsh its taunt.

I hear your voice,
Your gentle lilt, and my pleading ends.
I know my place
Within your heart, how much it bends.

It bends for me
To let me in, and hold me close.
Despite my pain,
I must accept who you love most.

And take the gift,
So gratefully, the generous, tender part
You keep for me.
The sharing, loving corner of your heart.
