Quieted Scream

The ground is so beautiful
covered in snow
completely undisturbed

A scream rises
only to be cut off in the middle
and a streak of blood
stains the snow

A name is screamed
then that voice is quieted too
and a hushed child's whimper
is heard over the wind

Then nothing more will ever be heard
from this family again
the snow is slowly being covered in blood
as it flows out of the bodies
