Wonder and Curiosity

by Praying 2 Satan   Jul 6, 2006

My eyes were wide
When I was a child.
I would set ants on fire
And let my mouth hang open in awe
At their tortured, grotesque figures.

My eyes were wide
When I used the knife
For the first time,
Finding it hard to cut open the pale skin
On my wrists.

My eyes were wide
When I fell in love
And acquainted the world with my pain.
The next morning my mouth hung open,
Just a little bit,
As I saw your mutilated figure
Front page.

My eyes were wide
And I was no longer a child
As the cuffs were strapped tight
And the needle dug deep.
When the world went dark,
I smiled
In utter
Pleasant
Delight of it all.

Excellent. the repetition works great, really draws the reader into the poem, i like that it doesn't rhyme and yet still keeps the attention and flow. xx
