Something worth holding on to

by ~Melanie~   Jul 8, 2006

I used to look down on my finger and gave upon the ring you gave me.

I would think of what "we" meant.
I thought that we would be together, "Always and Forever."

At times I would sneak into the storage closet, open the box and look at it one last time.

I guess I hoped that instead of the ring, it would be you who I would be glaring at.

Silly me.

This time though, I put it on and I wore it....just for the day.

It made it seem as if "we" were together again, like you were so near.

And each time I looked down at the ring, I could see us.

So young and restless.

But "we" has now separated into just me and you.

Sometimes I can see myself in the ring.
Still shiny, but not so new.

And then I can see you.
Beautiful, but with no more special meaning.
