I like how you compared things.

I like the way you describe insignificance, but there is a flip side to the coin. I encourage you to explore the benefits of each of your examples;

The doll, the daisy, the shell, the spider, the girl at her first school day and the dog.

Off of the top of my head I can think of at least two positive out looks for each one.

It would make for a great contrasting poem.

Again, punctuation will help flow and take the reader where you want them to go.
