Meeting

I saw you in the street
Under the dim light
You were sitting on a bench
With your head in your hands
You looked so devasted
So I came.

I strolled up to you
Gingerly I asked: â??R u alright?â??
You lifted your golden brown mob of hair and stared
We looked at each other and your eyes met mine
Everything seemed to disappear
Everything around me was out of my view.

You suddenly broke the gaze
Tears rolled into your eyes
â??No,â?? you said.
A tear fell onto the pavement.
I looked at it
Not knowing what to do.

I slowly sat next to you
And wrapped you with my arms
You looked at me with those eyes
And my heart melted
We watched eachother
It seemed to go on for ever.

You broke the gaze again
And lay your head on my shoulder
The heat from your face seeped through the thin material
Your hair tickled my face
I rested my head on top of yours
And said: â??Whatâ??s the matter?â??

At first,
You didnâ??t say anything
Just lay there like a doll
A tear rolled down your cheek and landed on my skirt
I reached into my bag for a tissue
And handed it to you.

You took your tissue and our hands touched
You lifted your head and looked at me with red eyes
I smiled a sad smile.
You didnâ??t smiled just watched me
Not knowing what to do,
I repeated my question
You sighed
And looked away
I asked gently: â??Is it personal?â??
You nodded and sniffed.
You rested your head again on my shoulder,
And said: â??My girlfriend broke up with meâ??

You started sobbing
And I dabbed your face with a clean tissue.
You looked at me with those eyes again
And I couldnâ??t look away
You wrapped your arms around me and held me tight
I asked: â??Why donâ??t we go to my house and have a coffee?â??

You didnâ??t say anything
So I though you didnâ??t want to go
As I pulled away,
I said: â??I gotta go.â??
I started to walk,
But you said: â??Iâ??ll come too.â??

I turned around, surprised.
And walked back to help you up
You leaned on me and I didnâ??t mind
Because I was deeply in love.
