The Cycle of Failing Love

by Matt   Jul 18, 2006

A new feeling plants itself in your heart

There it stays, refusing to depart

It begins to grow, shifting who you are

You do not anticipate the inevitable scar

You have fallen for someone, into the deepest love

The feeling has caught you in its baseball glove

You begin to shy, and attempt to flee

But you are trapped in a web, unable to get free

You must be released, for it invades you mind

Twisting your thoughts, making you blind

You finally let the feelings out

From your mouth they pour

They are received, is this an end to the emotional war?

You hope you can be put to ease

This love you have, has become a disease

To your disappointment, you are shunned away

However, your imprinted love, will not decay

Now, it is time to take a drop, into depression and despair

You tell your story, but no one seems to care

You wallow in the shadows, hating yourself for something you couldn’t stop

Emotions spinning like a child’s toy top

You think and sleep, still feeling incomplete

From the feelings, you cannot retreat

You begin to feel better, and become yourself again

And you can tell your story, through a ballpoint pen

The seed was never destroyed, still it hides

Waiting again to destroy your insides

Then again the cycle will begin

You start to wonder if there can ever be an end.
