The girl with the bow

by jess destroy earth   Jul 19, 2006

The girl with the bow
Went to school one day
Where she studied all her subjects
To receive straight A’s

Through the morning and afternoon
A smile shined across her face
A happy little girl
Her life perfectly in place.

Her smile stayed consistent
The whole day through
She went home cheerful
And joyous too.

As she reached her home
She stopped to get the mail
Then continued walking forward
On the cobblestone trail

She then unlatched the gate
Of the white picket fence
That sheltered and protected
Her cozy residence

She walked to the door
And went on inside
Her smile still glistening
And stretching real wide

She greeted her mother
And on the cheek, gave a peck
Then up the stairs
She began to trek

She went in her room
Set her things on the floor
Then she turned around
And locked the door

She collapsed on her bed
As her lips escaped a sigh
Her smile disappeared
As a tear trickled from her eye

She freed a soft tissue
Imprisoned in box that was closed
She dabbed away her sadness
And wiped her runny red nose.

She laid her head on the side of her pillow
As her makeup smeared beneath her eyes
Her stomach filled with pain and sadness
Inside, her heart crumpled and died.

Suddenly a high pitched giggle
Rang through her listening ears
She stood and walked to the window
But first wiped the rest of her tears.

She looked out from the windowpane
As her lungs began to fail
She could feel her head go hot and dizzy
She could feel her face run pale

For what she had saw
Was a nightmare come true
The kind that would wreck your day
And all of your hopes too

The boy she secretly adored
The surreptitious love of her life
Had without knowing it
Just produced terrible strife

For this incredible boy
Without any delay
Leaned in and kissed his new girlfriend
For the second time today.
