Forbidden Fruit

by Ashley Sharmane   Jul 20, 2006

Seemingly friendly hugs that mean so much more,
Glances across the room that say more than words,
I'm trying to stop this thing,
before it does us both harm.
Drawn to each other at the wrong time and place,
Our pasts and our futures determined our fates.
He's my forbidden fruit-irresistible and beautiful,
I wanna take a bite but it's dangerous to.
One stolen kiss,
just a moment in time,
such a small thing,
could be the worst mistake of my life.
The risks are high on this forbidden fruit of mine,
I'm dazzled by the possibilities,
but I'm not willing to make the sacrifice.
It is what it is,
and nothing more,
I know the outcomes,
and none of it leads to love.
I'm addicted to his words,
and confused by his touch,
I'm trying to stay away,
but his charm is too much.
I'm lost in rapture now,
and it's really just begun.
The thought of walking away,
is entirely too much.
So here I'll stay,
under his poisonous touch,
lost in this illusion,
this illusion of love.
