True Friends?

by Leticia   Jul 23, 2006

Friends are those whom we get along
Whatever mood you may be in
Friends are always there all day long
Friends may be real but then not sincere
Words of praise that flatter and awaken
Friends who have been asleep with fear

Friends come by one's path in places
Everywhere though some just befriend one
Touching the weakest heart listening and believing
Some that may be true and others entirely lies

Tell me...what true friends are
Someone who is there for you when needed
Someone who is there ready to flatter
Making one believe the warmth words
That bring flame even to the cold of the coldest

For me...true friends are people
Who are willing to lend a helping hand
Who are true to what they say
Who never lie nor deceit anyone
That turns one's quiet life into rage

I am a true friend who keeps my words
A friend who listens, believes and willing
To go through rough waves and stormy weather
Through hardship and tough challenges in life

I am a true friend who chooses not for material things
A friend who always help and give to better others' lives
I am a friend who believes that to give is a blessing
A friend who is glad when appreciated but not betrayed
Lies and betrayal are evil acts
that destroy not only
A true friend far away but also those dearest to them

I know I can always be a true friend if needed
To sacrifice but not to the extent of giving my life
To a friend who is not real and true
I know myself...I am a true friend

But where is that true friend I once thought to be
Sharing values of honesty, gratefulness, unity and is present when needed
Are you a true friend to me? Is there really such a true friend?
I don't know what true friends are in others' hearts
Tell me....are you a true friend?
