A pebble in the water

by Dead As Yesterday   Jul 24, 2006

Cast a pebble in the water
It spawns many rings
A reflection of life
The consequences of our actions
On people and of many things

The Sun rising casting its early morning light
Every day a fresh chance to get things right
Remembering the faces and people Ive known
Regretting the ripples of pain Ive sown

Sadness has its grip tight around my soul
To the people that I miss I love you all
I can endure the hurt and face the scorn
Like the ripples in the water
Cant I be reborn

As the pebble reaches the bottom
Knowing it has affected so much
It rests gently on the sand bar
Remembering everything and all it has touched

One face in the ripples stands alone
The face of my only one true love
Yet its one I have never really known
Just another ring of pain this pebble has sown

Phoenix Rising
