Star Of Hers (The First Time I Saw You)

by Bonnie   Jul 26, 2006

And the depth of the night
Pulls me back,
The hem of my coat held fast by
The brokenness of this savage place,
I feel the dank sky, so sickly and
Full of the thickness of dark
As it swallows me down
Below the crashing surface
A little star grows and begins to
Burn away
The deepness and the foulness

I know her not, but her flame is
Proud and commands a passion,
A power
I catch her song on a soft breeze,
A voice that brings the blood fast
To my skin
And somewhere, someone within
Wakes from an aged dream
Once concealed with isolation, and
Now sings back from within
Sings proud and far, and
Carries his song higher
I feel my heart shake in the
Thunderous grace of her light
As the fierce beauty of her star
Erupts across a blazing sky,
And pierces the night, punching
Through the deep that holds me
And fills such sweet, warm song in
Every being, every moment,
Every motion
Her eyes reach out, encircling the city,
Holding it fast with
Their fiery grip
She lifts her finger and the sun
Soars up from its hiding place
And now I remember, once more,
What it truly means

To know love
