One day our love will prevail

by Colin   Aug 4, 2006

Ive always wanted to express how truly feel in a poem, but its always ended up being a cliched bunch of crap, but theres no harm in trying again.

She smiles at me sometimes
For reasons unknown.
It's an awkward smile
Which makes my inner man groan
It's a smile with no meaning
Or at least not yet
As I know her not well
And wish not to covet

The crux of my everything
Wishes she was all mine
But something tells me
Her heart is guarded well
Set on things higher
I know, I can just tell

Who therefore
is ready for her
If not me
than no other.
As I keep her loyally
At the back of my mind
Watching, waiting
Carefully, patiently.

For love does not act
On the here and now
It waits and strikes
When God sees it fit
And if this isn't for years
Then so be it.
