The Only Light In The Darkness

by Christine   Aug 6, 2006

Darkness surrounds an empty heart.
Eyes of stone burn into her flesh.
She is lost inside a throng of thorny vines that choke her.
So many are around her, yet she remains alone.
But a light shines.
She reaches for it, but it is pulled out of reach.
Others see the light too, but none as brightly as she.
So many things try to put this light out, but no matter what they do,
she can still see the light when she closes her eyes.
But she cries, fearing she will never get to hold the light in her hands,
that the light will never lead her out of the darkness.
And everyday she cannot possess this light, she falls deeper into the blackness.
Come light soon, don't leave me blind with pain.
