Under the Power of True Love

by Kirsten   Aug 8, 2006

It was weird the first time we met,
Our hearts beat so fast,
Our minds and all reason seemed to have left,
We didn't know why or how,
But something came over us,
Something so pure and true,

It was amazing how time blew by,
We soon became the best of friends,
Chatting away until the stars filled the sky,
But before each night as I gazed at my star,
Iâ??d feel in my heart a tremendous power,
Something so pure and true,

I still smile thinking of how it was,
I still cry to think how badly things ended,
You left with another girl,
I left to my inner thoughts and dreams,
And soon that flame diminished,
That something so pure and true,

I still dream we could start over again,
There are so many secrets left to be known,
And though I may never get that chance,
I wanted to let you remember the first night we met,
And think about that feeling that came over us,
That something so pure and true,

I realized too late it was love,
Love never ceases to amaze,
It creeps on us slowly and quietly,
Like a mouse creeping about at night,
Once felt it takes breaths away,
It brings two together,

Just as quickly as it comes it goes,
Leaving us bewildered and alone,
Thus let me ask why we hid so long,
Why we pushed it aside?
For never will something be as powerful,
Nothing will ever compare,
To those nights we spent together,
Under the power of true love.
