Demon

by Matt   Aug 13, 2006

Writing broken letters to my heart
In hours of spreading twilight
The words are coming from memory
Phrases you used to whisper
And looks I caught out of the corner of my eye
Just hearing your voice saying my name
It sounds so sweet that it makes me sick
Only because you are not with me
Much like the poems we read on the final day
Lines from "Dover Beach" that give me hope
Are only to be brought down again when reading
"Tonight I Can Write The Saddest Lines"
Every single thought brings me back to you
And I'm not sure how I keep myself together
I'm always falling apart form the seams
But even though people say that it will get better
It feels like every second sucks the life away
You see, honest is easy.. but fiction is where genius lies
So I'll live in my falsified dreams
Where you lay with me every dawn and haunt my breaths
Like a demon that lives under my own skin
But I'll leave you there, a demon cannot be hurt
And it may be the only way to keep you with me...
