Chance

by The Fallen   Aug 17, 2006

~Her tears fall for meaningless reasons. Each drop is a crime against herself and happiness. The mascara bleeds, the laces crumble, and the gaze is broken in a single fleeting moment. Neither pain nor any pleasure revive it, so it lays strewn across her face in shattered streaks of irreplaceable value. There is nothing left to do but hold her tears and take them from her. Only the stains, the dried tears on your shoulder, can become a testament to the pain that has passed through her veins and finally when the woes are wept and the tears are swept you will find a smile in her sweet vanity ruins.

~I would hold you and I would promise to ask for nothing but your vulnerability in return. For in embrace and passing time there is a release and in your weakness, so vulnerable to all and none, you will find a reason to smile again. Tears do no lats forever, though it may seem like they do at first, so I will stand here until they have all gone. Would you hold my hand if I promised not to judge you or offend your grace, but only to hold it in return? Would you stay here if I promised to protect you from the surrounding threats and troubles that oppose? Would you give me the chance if I made a promise and solemnly swore to you and you alone? I would do all of this and so much more if it meant that I could hold you closely and take your pain away. If only given the chance, just the chance.

~Look at those cheeks, so light of touch with so little life left in them. Drained and deprived of smiles for endless time, they look so sad with their twin black rivers of burning deceit. Her gaze is broken and it is no more, but nothing is forever on her lips; No, not those lips. One kiss, yes, I believe that one kiss on those oh-so beautifully ravaged lips can break the hold of ethereal pain that consumes her. And then, when the hold is finally broken, she will smile again and that gaze, not yet forgotten, will find beauty again like a rose born of the ashes of its own destruction, set apart from all else that ever was and better than all that ever could be.
