We happened....

My inspiration for this poem was the quote:
Don't cry because it's over, be happy because it happened.

Even though we've said it is over
the pain inside still lingers on
although I have to walk away~
it still hurts to know you're gone.

The good times for us are over now
the love we shared is now no longer
I have to thank you for being there~
because of you I can say I'm stronger.

I'm not bitter because you have left me
I'm happy because of what we shared
I love you still~I honestly do
I'm glad because you once cared.

You've taught me how to love again
really, that's an amazing feat
because of you, I can give my heart
and no longer fear the defeat.

Although you've left me broken hearted
I will remember the experience of you
I can be happy because we happened
and not cry because it's through!
