Little Amy

by Brooke Mason   Sep 9, 2006

She's always locking herself away
her only company: a pen and notepad
she searches for all of the answers
and is left with only more questions
no matter how hard she cries alone
its never quite enough to ease the pain

Walking through life alone and scared
she does her best to be the best
the life that she has is hard, but she
continues on with grace and virtue
Little Amy is innocent, pure, gentle
she does not deserve these things to happen.

Her father walked out six years ago
her mother leaves scarlet marks upon her skin
she doesnt know what is going on
she wants her family to be together
all she wants is to be happy, to live happy
Little Amy sings to herself, by herself

Little Amy doesnt understand a lot
she doesnt know why she just found
blood on her mother's bathroom sink
her mother's body lying before her
she doesnt understand why she's alone
why the amublance is taking her mother away

She prays to God at this moment and
thanks him for what she DOES have
"After all," Little Amy says quietly
"It truly is not your fault that mommy dropped the knife on her heart.."
