You came to me last night
And whispered “let’s not fight”
You took me in your arms,
Kissed me ever so tenderly and off went the alarms.
The room blurred,
Emotions were stirred.
All I saw clearly was your face,
I was in the arms of my saving grace.
You warmed my heart with your gentle caress
And I was reminded how much I was blessed
How can you love me so?
Why? I shall never know...
But I don’t need to know why, I’m just glad you do
Forever in your embrace, I could stay with you

We stood together for what seemed to be forever
Parting was such an endeavor
But you had to leave, only stopped by for a moment
Letting you go was such agonizing torment

You smiled and said “I love you”
And you squeezed me once more.
I showed you out the door
As the tears started falling from my eyes
Desperately I tried to hide behind a disguise
But you saw through it to my true pain...
Reassurance filled your voice and I felt the warmth again
You promised that it wouldn’t be much longer
And asked me to be a little stronger.
I said that I’d try my best but I couldn’t promise a thing,
You held your smile and clearly I remember everything...
Before my eyes, you vanished in thin air
I cried out into the darkness, but you weren’t there.

I awoke with tears streaming
And I realized I was only dreaming
It felt so real, it could’ve been
Sadly, I knew then
How much I long to be with you
