We had such a great time at the beach that day
We all gathered together and bonded like clay
Weren't exactly sure of what would come of this
But for that moment we enjoyed pure bliss

You and I, we actually started to get closer
Even though you were three years older
Simply put, you would never dream of me while sleeping in your bed
So I would just have to settle for your friendship instead

Your friendship: the only thing I truly want most
And my luck so far has been so close
But then she comes beside you, and looks me in the eye
I know shes just your best friend, but still, sparks seem to fly

I know it may sound shallow, but thats my inner thought
That if I became your friend, you might like me a lot
Instead of just ' that girl you know ', I could be something more
If not, oh well, I can still look and then adore

I know this is so cliche, but I still have to say it
If I didn't like you like I do, I'd still like you, no question
Every girl seems to want you to be their man
But if friendship is all I get, I'll take what I can

I love you because of who you are
And who you still may be
It doesn't matter who you decide to choose
But I'd be happier if you chose me
