4 Heartbeats and a Promise

by Samantha   Sep 18, 2006

You don't expect a second chance
That when you get, you hope will last;
You're my second chance, you see
A chance planned out so perfectly.

I listen to the rain outside,
Hear your voice as I close my eyes,
Pray to a god I know does not exist
That I'll get to be with the one I've missed.

How can you be called my second chance
When you're the first and only that will last?
The only one I've looked forward for;
A soul reminder in a whithered core.

These late nights I stay awake so long,
Reminisce about the path I've been on,
Look to you, then I'm overwhelmed inside
With you, I know my heart will die.

    I liked this poem! I thought it was very well-written. My favourite lines were:

    "The only one i've looked forward for;
    A soul reminder in a whithered core."

    The words you used were great! Great job!
