An eternal Battle

by Bethan   Sep 19, 2006

I'd waged a war from tales of old,
Where heart and mind contend,
Is one the friend and one the foe,
On which do I depend?

I denied its very existence,
Pretended it wasn't real,
I followed my mind at first,
But it let me think not feel,

So, I strengthened my defences,
To protect my fragile heart,
For this foe has the power,
To tear it clean apart,

I fought against it fiercely,
Using all my strength and skill,
But it broke down my barriers,
And bent me to its will,

Us two became as one,
United and entwined,
My heart was taken over,
As too was my mind,

We have a name us two,
That's feared across the land,
The name is that of love,
Won't you take me by the hand?

Jolly good Gaillard. I looved it. I love almost all your work. You have such a great way of writing. I especially liked the second stanza, but even more, i liked the third and forth lines in th second stanza.
