Sell myself short

by alex   Sep 21, 2006

In a place that I have grown
accustomed to.
I am waiting here for you.

In the silence of this moment
as it chokes me
and it drains me
I'm so patient as I'm waiting
here for you.

Amidst the muffled moans of passion
and the doubts that blocked the actions.
In the giving 'till I crumbled.
I love you too, you lied
you mumbled.
Amidst the soul I killed my trying
here I sit
and I am crying.

And not just because I'm waiting here today.

If you only knew the wings you broke
to make me feel this way.

You saw my heart.
You loved my weakness
so with the thought
that that's what love is
I taught
myself to walk
With my eyes to the ground.

And I became your perfect baby.
Not a proud or beautiful lady.
I smiled softly
and learned not to make a sound.

I then learned to obey.
I hung on every word you'd say.
You never knew me anyway.
And still somehow I wait.
