Thirteen Girls

by Vyntrrose   Sep 27, 2006

All along the shadowed path
Murmured words of Angel song
Bloodied roses with thorns of sharp
Do not linger here too long

Angered trees with branches slender
Grab her hair and pull so hard
Blood drops fall from fingers pricked
By thorns of broken green glass shards

Running hard, away from them
Down the path and out of sight
Labored breathing pulls her chest
Deep blue eyes are wild with fright

Diamond tears on satin cheeks
Smooth as silk and white as sin
Blood red lips and shadowed eyes
Reveal the sorrow from deep within

People like them who drive her to it
Selfish souls with hearts of stone
Push her away and scream at her
Leaving her helpless, all alone

She glances behind, lips parted to speak
"I damn you to all levels of Hell!"
Her heart is tattooed with remnants of shame
Her body is cold, a lifeless shell

Blackened wisps of incense smoke
Escort her spirit to far away
Twelve more bodies found that night
Thirteen girls who died today

All with bloodied fingertips
Pierced by thorns and ravaged red
Thirteen candles around each one
An incense burner by their head

No one weeps for daughters gone
Spirits taken, can not stay
Twelve more bodies found that night
Thirteen girls who died today.
