Like Everything is Fine--the Cycle

by Poetvoices   Oct 2, 2006

Once again,
struck about the head.
I promptly regurgitate
more lies I was fed.

I make a statement
against which you won't defend,
because I put it in letters
I never plan to send.

The truth suppressed
from blue line to blue line,
and I go ahead and smile
like everything is fine.

At first, alone I cry
and then I just get mad,
and then I write the letters
that should (but never WOULD) make you mad.

The next few days,
I hint around that it hurt,
I put clues on every corner
that you and danger shouldn't flirt.

But other than that, life's the same.
No more moments that negatively shine,
and I go ahead and smile
like everything is fine.
