Excellent poem on a tough subject. Sadly, everyone can speak up and be proud of their heritage without being labeled racist, except for white people. Being proud of who you are ethnically is a far cry from being a racist, but sadly many cannot see the difference. You will probable get some nasty comments, but I challenge you to keep your poem posted and not to buckle from pressure.

I for one do not see this as racist, just a cry for the same priveledges others have. Great job.

This was fantastically penned. The message you are trying to get across is loud and clear. I do not feel your words in this write are racist. Every race can be proud of their culture but when a certain race stands up proud it ia automatically seen as racism. Every person no matter what race or religion should have the right to stand up tall and proud to be who they are.
The past is the past...it cannot be changed but we can all learn from it.
Yes what happened in the past was tragic but we must all move forward as the human race instead of dividing ourselves in to groups of the human race. We all have faults but we should not be judged by who are ancestora are or what they did.
This was very inspirational my dear Katie.

This was such a great poem!!!!! The message is so true and it's about time someone said it loud and proud, no one should be discriminated against but even when white people are no one dares call you for it as then you're a racist too. grrrr.
As Laura said, the past is the past, learn from it but do not judge us by our fathers but rather by ourselves.
A wonderful, thoughtful and motivational poem. Way to go!!!
