Raising my Heavy Glass

by Poetvoices   Oct 9, 2006

3 stars in the east
sit on the solid sky,
and honestly I wonder why,
but they've been there a long time.

The first one of the stars
is always shining bright.
it truly lights up the night,
but soon it becomes distant.

It twinkles when it can
bringing me joy
like a child's shining toy,
but it's still so far away.

The second reminds me of myself--
everything tongue in cheek--
it can hardly speak
without a joke.

Things were good
for quite a while,
but when things got vile,
the second star burn out.

The third star is the oldest
of the three stars.
It's never far.
It's dear to my soul.

Emotions, for the third,
of all things, are hard,
but it rolls with the slap of any card.
The third star shines forever.

    Very good write!
P.S.- I dont think the second star burned out. I think that the clouds just covered it up when things got "vile". Maybe the second star felt like the first star (and the whole rest of the milky way) hated it and wanted it to just suddnely burn out. Hopefully the first one can see the second star again. I'm sure it will never view it the same as before, but maybe it will atleast see that it never burned out, it was just covered by the haze of confusion and misunderstanding. ;)

Wow!!! You have done it again. I love this poem. When You glance at it someone might think that your actually speaking of stars. But as you read on the words take over and show you the true meaning of the poem. I hope this all makes sense to you. So in other words I say bravo on a excellent job. 5/5
