Laying Next To Me

by ntv650   Oct 11, 2006

I miss you again, again in the twilight
Today it rained so heavily upon me.
But I did not run or try to shelter myself,
I stood still and let the rain run down.
Through my hair, down both my shoulders
Down my hand, dripping off my fingertips.

And I miss you again, standing in the rain
Today your hands became those heaven drops.
Cold hands caressed my hot, beating chest,
And the chill brought my heart to slow its pace.
Your fingers ran through my drenched hair
And down my soaking neck, my back tense.

But I miss you again, in the twilight
When it is only half-light, half-dark.
So I close my eyes and drift into a world,
Where you stand beside me.
And your voice does pierce the silence
And you are not quite so far away from me.

Because I miss you even more, and it is night
I ought to lay my head down to sleep.
Let myself go, maybe forever, into the dark,
In sleep where were more likely to meet.
But since know that I will have to wake up alone,
Tomorrow again I will imagine you laying next to me.

This is a beautiful poem Tom. Been such a long time since I came on here. Still have nothing to write, seems nothing can give me the inspiration I lost.

Absolutely brilliant poem. i feel this wya every night when I go to sleep and when I wake up, no joke. The lines I especially loved were: "So I close my eyes and drift into a world,
    Where you stand beside me.
And your voice does pierce the silence
And you are not quite so far away from me."

Very nice poem. Keep it up!

    Take Care and God Bless,
