Looking Back

by Brooke Mason   Oct 12, 2006

I can tell what pushed you
to do what you did
I see how I turned into
to which you felt dread

Those loving arms once holding me tight
those whispers in my ear
No longer help me at night
Nor wipe away the tears

My voice, once yours alone
Is no longer put to the test
I just realized what I'd done
How I've made such a mess

Maybe if I'd taken you back
and given it one last shot
I wouldn't be here looking back
and around my neck, this rope with a knot
