Flower of happiness

by Yazdan   Oct 20, 2006

I walked all alone
Through the forest that night
The moon was at its fullest
And the stars were shining bright
The breeze was harsh
And shook the leaves
Tearing them off
And leaving like thieves

I entered a clearing
Where the wind gently blows
In the center of the clearing
Stood a beautiful red rose
I bent down to take it
The thorns made me bleed
I drew back my hand
But my eyes were filled with need
Its beauty had me captivated
I could not leave it now
This rose would be mine
Was my resolute vow
I clutched its stem gently
I winced from the pain
I would only let go
If this rose had me slain
The pain subsided
The rose began to give
The thorns fell of slowly
But the rose would always live

I returned down the path
With the rose in my hands
I've never understood happiness
But now I understand
In a vase by the window
The rose now resides
I gaze at it endlessly
The joy never subsides
