Stormy sky

by elf   Oct 20, 2006

I pull the sweater tighter around my shoulders as I step into the dark night.
A chill runs down my spine.
I look up at the sky and see beautiful stars searching for answers and the moon looking for a lonely place to share its beauty.
I sigh and start walking.
I have a long way to travel in this dark world before I once again find the sun again.

As I walk the moon begins to cry feeling the loneliness I try to hide.
The wind begins to move gently across my face saying, "don't be afraid I am here. The night will be ours. A place only we know of. A place no one else will be."
I continue walking at my fast pace trying to keep the coldness from growing and freezing me.
Not much longer now and I will find it.

"Why do you run? What is it you fear? The pain will only grow stronger....come into the night were I will keep you safe and hold you close to my waiting heart. Please join me. I also feel the coldness grow with in me."
The wind grows restless now pulling at my clothes trying to pull me in, trying to get me to give in.

"You have nothing to loose, only to gain. I promise not to hurt you. Trust me I have done you no wrong. I have only waited, giving you warm days and beautiful nights asking nothing in return. But now I do and you run.... what is it you fear?"

The rain is pouring now, in desperation.
Lighting flashes across the sky and thunder cries out in pain.
I am drenched, my own tears streaming down my face.
Unknown questions whirl through my mind. what holds me back when I have nothing to live for.
Why not join the night, enter a new world of pure beauty and silence?

"Please tell me why?" The wind stops and the rain continue to pour, silently weeping.
You can hear sobs of pain from the clouds.
You can see the occasional flash of lighting.

"Hope," is all I say before I enter the warm living room and wipe my tears dry.
