Story of a Breakdown

by megan   Oct 27, 2006

And I waited for you at the door.
I stood there and you came.
You just looked at me.
Into me, through your blue eyes.
I don't know what you saw that day.
But it must have been a miracle.

So we moved on.
We drove through the country.
Out into another town.
But here we met our match.
Someone else's jealousy played the defender.
But you fought through that.
You told me words I'll never forget.

We spent our days together.
Time wasn't an option.
It just flew by.
Like a bird, so beautiful it was whiter than snow.
What we had was like that bird.
Beautiful. Pure.
What I thought was true.

Then you distanced yourself.
You clung onto a past that for me had no meaning.
I fought what battles I needed to pass for you.
But the enemies at your battle were too strong.

Your words melted away.
The dense, tough ice dripped slowly onto the floor.
It couldn't be re-created.
Then suddenly, you melted away.

Drip. Drip. Drip.
Then it stops.

The ice had gone.
Complete destruction
