The Rusty Chains

by Levi   Oct 31, 2006

For so long have I wasted away,
Everything's the same as yesterday.
Can't free myself from the rusty chains,
And the dark sky continues to rain.
Looking to the nothing I've come to hate,
And all that has become my fate.

The sunlight is never seen,
And my soul continues to scream.
Darkness has imprisoned me,
And I'm anything but free.
Living in all that I hate,
Why has this become my fate?

I need the light to break through,
Cause it's the only truth I ever knew.
It will save me from the pain,
And the cold and bitter rain;
I pray to the Lord with all my heart,
And hope for the clouds to part!
Save me from shadow that consumes,
And the haunting figures it assumes.

Break these rusty chains that cut into my skin,
Before the line between life and death becomes too thin;
And I drift away to nothing but the burning ashes of death,
Please hurry cause I'm clinging on to the last of my breath.
