When love takes control

by Yazdan   Nov 4, 2006

When i turned 13
A puppy came to my door
It had no home, so i took it in
Its name was then Amore
I bought it a leash
And took it for a walk
Amore met you then
As he smells we talk
From then on
Amore drove me to meet you
He made me very happy
Since then I've never felt blue
One day you told me it was over
Amore slept restlessly that night
he woke up with cuts on his side
he was mad and i feared his bite
Eventually it got better
I decided to take off his collar
He ran out the door
He didn't hear me holler
I felt like we were free
until Amore found someone new
He was older, bigger
It was me that he subdued
I tried to keep him caged
But his bite could go through steel
I couldn't keep him back
This horror was for real
Back Amore Back!!
I won't let you cause pain
This woman is my friend
Your love was in vain
But Amore was a giant now
He towered above me
As i stood between you and him
I told you to flee
This battle was ours
I had to fight love itself
But he is the giant
And i am a small elf
With one swift bite
He took off my head
I got up surprised
I was lying in bed
I cant let love control me
It only causes pain
To love without control
Is akin to going insane
I love you, my friend
But as a friend only
I'll always care for you
But I'll always be lonely

*note Amore means love in Italian and the dog is a metaphor for just that.
