War

by Suzie Q   Nov 4, 2006

Eyes lose their diamond light,
The soul cries,
The body gives up the fight.
The soldiers screaming all around,
A hail of bullets that make no sound,
A brigade of willing homeward bound.
Letters clutched by dead and dying hands,
The moon peaks out from behind the clouds,
Revealing much of blood stained lands.
Hundreds of years of history repeated again,
Problems solved,
By the strength and grief of the lives of men.
Greed an all consuming need of a nation,
Poverty a curse of those who need a nation.
A nation formed on a base of war, blood, politics, and past,
A nation soon to fall on its very base that is proved to last.
